Visually, Tricky Towers is a delight. It seamlessly blends bright colours, clean lines and engaging backdrops while also ensuring it does not detract from the gameplay. I loved the way each game mode had unique scenery – it set the tone for each of the different game modes and provided an element of personality.
When considering the audio content in this title, I was initially impressed. The soundtrack brought some character to proceedings, and the sounds emanating from the witches and wizards were well-placed. Due to the challenging, fast-paced nature of the game, particularly in the later levels, this audio did become stale at times, and I think more variety would have been beneficial.Gameplay and Replayability
The three game modes on offer in Tricky Towers are single player, local and online multiplayer. Single player consists of a series of challenges, reminiscent of Candy Crush Saga and the like, where you complete a challenge set in the given time before moving up through the increasingly more difficult levels. Although an enjoyable time can, here, it is the local and online multiplayer modes where this game truly shines.
My wife and I spent an enjoyable evening or two playing the competitive modes that Tricky Towers had to offer. First up was ‘Race’, where, you guessed it, you race to the finish line by building a tower tall enough in size to reach the finish line suspended in the sky. The original maps and rooms are still there, along with the unique boulder gameplay, but now with bright, colourful cartoon graphics to bring it into the modern age.’ HamsterJam is similar to the likes of Boulderdash, but with a more varied gameplay thanks to many ’special’ rocks and bonus items. Your objective is to collect all of the rings in each room. Rings will not fall, but boulders may roll off them. When you have collected all the rings in a room, you can go through an exit to the next one. Complete twenty rooms, and you will beat the game and can submit your high score to the makers’ official site.
The behavior of boulders and existence of skulls and mice give HamsterJam a unique and challenging gameplay that is quite different from Boulderdash. Boulders will roll off other boulders, rings and skulls if there is nothing to the side that hold them in place. They may sometimes split into two if they fall and land on other boulders. In addition, there are skulls that block your way and are deadly to the touch; they can only be destroyed with rings if you have collected enough of them. You must also run away from the mice, or turn them into jam by dropping a boulder on top of them. Each room has a time limit, so you must be quick on your toes.
Freeware coders at Ovine by Design have done a great job converting this 8-bit game for Windows. The levels and gameplay remain the same, but now are more attractive than ever with the addition of SVGA graphics and sound effects. The interface is very intuitive, and the animations are very smooth. A good mix of arcade and puzzle fun, HamsterJam comes highly recommended to anyone who loves Repton or Boulderdash games.

By March 2020, Julia has been made the Lasombra representative in New York City, a position with little actual power or privilege, under the supervision of Sheriff Qadir al-Asmai. She has also moved in with her human best friend and lover, Dakota. When the Anarch Baron Callihan is found dead under mysterious circumstances, Julia is tapped as the investigator of the case by the Camarilla Primogen Council as a gesture of good faith. Arriving at Callihan’s office, she finds a card inside his pocket with four names on it: Agathon, Hope, D’Angelo and Tamika.
Julia is unable to locate Agathon, but a secret diary he left behind suggests that he had become aware of a secret scheme involving High Regent Aisling Sturbridge, his mentor, Thomas Arturo, a prominent Camarilla, and Callihan. Julia proceeds to question Hope, who has since taken over and reformed Double Spiral. Hope claims that the list of names came from the information broker Carter Vanderweyden. Vanderweyden categorically denies his involvement. Julia then stumbles into Tamika, who has been in hiding and exacting revenge on government agents targeting vampires. Tamika reveals that Torque, her ex-lover and the presumptive new leader of the Anarchs, has betrayed his revolutionary roots and were working with the opportunistic Callihan. Qadir and Julia discover D’Angelo, now a broken man and a drunkard, hiding inside his own detective agency. D’Angelo reveals that the four people on the list, through their frequent employment, became aware of a conspiracy involving multiple sects in the city, after which they either disappeared or were forced into hiding or seeking protection. Back at Callihan’s office, D’Angelo assists Julia with her investigation and discovers that the office has been wired by the powerful and elusive information broker Kaiser. Julia manages to reach Kaiser, who berates her for her relentless drive despite no one actually wanting the mystery solved. Sensing a setup, Julia wrestles Kaiser out of the moving limo and subdues him. She then has the option to either walk away or torture him for information. If she does the latter, Kaiser reveals that all parties—the Camarilla, Torque and Callihan—were working together, and that the Council and Torque collectively took part in Callihan’s murder after he outlived his usefulness.
Julia is shocked to discover that Dakota has been dressing up as her and trying to live through her. She lashes out at Dakota over the state of their relationship, and the argument ends with Dakota storming out of the apartment. Qadir presents the results of the investigation to the Council in Julia’s stead, offering a narrative in which Callihan, with his empire crumbling and him fading into irrelevance, chose to take his own life by exposing himself to sunlight. Everyone present is satisfied with the explanation. Julia’s response and the game ending vary, depending on the previous choices she makes.
If Julia has taken a more aggressive, cynical and deceptive approach during the course of the game, she chooses to weave together a narrative that implicates everyone present. She then threatens to go public with it and blackmails the Council into offering her the Primogen title and associated privileges, and setting Carter Vanderweyden up as a scapegoat. A condition of her advancement is Dakota’s death, which does not bother her. If Julia has taken a more peaceful, optimistic and honest approach, she chooses to accept the cover-up. It all starts with the sounds of the rushing tides over slightly foreboding music. It’d be poetic if it wasn’t for the gunfire. There’s a hazmat tent set up and two hazmat clad scientists along with two convulsing patients inside. There’s only one vial available and two patients.

Five years later, Amy works for K-Corp, a nanotech company.
While giving a presentation to the board there’s a terrorist attack and she’d needed back at the Kensington Complex. The terrorist is from the local British Colony of Kindar.
If that’s a real place, I can’t find it.
The terrorist Clare Mahek (Kim Adis) is also sick. She’s had Amy’s nanotech injected within her bloodstream and it’s not going well. Amy needs to remove the nanocells without killing Clare, which is impossible. She has a team of four, including that unreliable jerk Rees. The team of four drops to two after an acid attack and yet another terrorist attack.
The scientists are desparate and check back in with their backer Nathalie Kensignton (Kate Dickie from GOT). She seems more interested in keeping the nanotech secure than any empathy towards the woman dying from said nanotech.
There’s also some guys from Kindar that want to kill Clare and have broken into the supposedly impenetrable complex. They’re still behind some pretty secure doors but it’s only a matter of time.
THE COMPLEX: LOCKDOWN is a complicated story set entirely in the complex of mention. It’s a fascinating location. I entertained myself just looking at the set pieces. For one location, it feels like we’re seeing much more.
The virus affecting the breakdown in this film is the acting. I’m not familiar with the main actress Michelle Mylett but her wooden acting kills the emotion the director tries to invoke. She gives the same monotone delivery for romantic scenes, doctor spiel, and panic. I don’t want to pick on her but the lack of charisma holds this feature down. She’s beautiful so I do understand why the director chose her but it doesn’t work.
I found myself enjoying the film despite her. This isn’t a great film but I found it entertaining. Even if my girlfriend and I mimicked Amy all night while the Dodgers played. Giving robotic feedback on the game’s progress to one another to humor ourselves.
(Robotic voice: A homerun was hit. Yay.)
In that way, I must admit this one sticks with you. I just feel like there’s a much better story in there, waiting to burst out.
Paul Raschid directed the 1h 18min movie off a script from Lynn Renee Maxcy. (THE HANDSMAID’S TALE).
The coolest thing about THE COMPLEX: LOCKDOWN is it’s also an interactive game you can find on just about every platform from earlier this year. The game offers up different paths to multiple endings, a modern day Choose Your Own Adventure.
THE COMPLEX: LOCKDOWN is visually striking thriller that doesn’t quite reach the heights its aiming for. In the end, you’ll be slightly satisfied but wondering why you didn’t put MOON or SAW on instead.
If you have 1 ½ hours to kill, you can definitely do worse than this one. For me, this one kept me interested throughout but ultimately fell flat. I blame the acting but what do I know?

The Jackbox Party Pack games are must-haves for anyone who entertains company, either in person or online. Seven have been released to date, each one stuffed with delightful social games that are easy to pick up and play, both for their cleverly designed rules and their easy accessibility across consoles, computers, and phones.
The games vary from pack to pack. And frankly, some are better than others. Sometimes you’re defusing a bomb or coming up with a good joke, and sometimes you’re trying to outwit a friend or catch a hidden alien. Most games are for three to 10 players, but they also have an audience function that allows many additional players to join and play along, making them nice and flexible for social occasions (and livestreaming).

A few of the packs are blessed by their sheer variety. The Jackbox Party Pack 3 has Quiplash 2, Guesspionage, and Tee K.O. That’s a comedy game, a stats-guessing trivia title, and a contest where players make T-shirts out of the contestants’ terrible drawings and phrases.
The Jackbox Party Pack 6 contains a trivia game with an over-the-top, silly horror theme; an Among Us-style social sabotage game; a word challenge catered toward linguistics nerds; a stand-up comedy cruise; and a game about assigning roles to your close friends and family.
The point is that there’s something for everyone in these two packs, and the games tend to be low-key enough that you can pull them out at a holiday party or any old get-together and still chat with friends or eat finger foods between rounds. Joke Boat and Tee K.O. both offer generous amounts of downtime for players, and anyone can pick up Quiplash or Guesspionage and have an OK time.

Perhaps you don’t want to have to consider a great-aunt’s conservative sensibilities, or worry about your co-worker Todd from accounting. You might have a gang of good friends all ready to assemble and give Jackbox a shot. In that case, The Jackbox Party Pack 4 and The Jackbox Party Pack 7 are the clear winners.
Party Pack 4 has a couple of games that are fantastic when you can comfortably dunk on the other players, or lie straight to their faces. Survive the Internet is one of the more mean-spirited games, allowing you to take quotes from your friends and add horrible context to them for laughs. Fibbage 3 is also a game all about, well, fibs, along with a mode called Fibbage About You where you can make up lies directly about the other players. (The other games, Civic Doodle and Bracketeering, are not the best of the bunch but are perfectly playable.)
Party Pack 7 is a pack full of games that provide a focused, specific experience. Talking Points is good if you know you’re playing with people who can pull off some improv for two minutes at a time — or are at least willing to give it a shot. Champ’d Up is a drawing game where players have to create champions and contenders for titles like “Champion of Getting Mad on Twitter” or “Champion of Shady Deals.” This game is a blast, but it’s a little trickier than Tee K.O., and it requires a little more patience from players. The pack also includes Quiplash 3, which is always a crowd-pleaser.The Party Packs you can safely skip
At this point, it’s not worth picking up the first two packs — developer Jackbox Games has replaced the best titles from them with sequels, and the other games simply haven’t stood the test of time. If you want to try a taste of the best games from the original two Party Packs, it’s better to just buy an individual copy of Quiplash or Drawful 2.

The Jackbox Party Pack games are must-haves for anyone who entertains company, either in person or online. Seven have been released to date, each one stuffed with delightful social games that are easy to pick up and play, both for their cleverly designed rules and their easy accessibility across consoles, computers, and phones.
The games vary from pack to pack. And frankly, some are better than others. Sometimes you’re defusing a bomb or coming up with a good joke, and sometimes you’re trying to outwit a friend or catch a hidden alien. Most games are for three to 10 players, but they also have an audience function that allows many additional players to join and play along, making them nice and flexible for social occasions (and livestreaming).

Many of the games in later Jackbox Party Packs include sequels to popular ones from previous releases, which can make the older game collections a little redundant. (For instance, the first Trivia Murder Party — in The Jackbox Party Pack 3 — is greatly improved upon by the sequel, The Jackbox Party Pack 6’s Trivia Murder Party 2.) The packs are also a pretty good deal; some individual games can be purchased separately, but the cost of those transactions stacks up pretty quickly.

A few of the packs are blessed by their sheer variety. The Jackbox Party Pack 3 has Quiplash 2, Guesspionage, and Tee K.O. That’s a comedy game, a stats-guessing trivia title, and a contest where players make T-shirts out of the contestants’ terrible drawings and phrases.
The Jackbox Party Pack 6 contains a trivia game with an over-the-top, silly horror theme; an Among Us-style social sabotage game; a word challenge catered toward linguistics nerds; a stand-up comedy cruise; and a game about assigning roles to your close friends and family.
The point is that there’s something for everyone in these two packs, and the games tend to be low-key enough that you can pull them out at a holiday party or any old get-together and still chat with friends or eat finger foods between rounds. Joke Boat and Tee K.O. both offer generous amounts of downtime for players, and anyone can pick up Quiplash or Guesspionage and have an OK time.

Perhaps you don’t want to have to consider a great-aunt’s conservative sensibilities, or worry about your co-worker Todd from accounting. You might have a gang of good friends all ready to assemble and give Jackbox a shot. In that case, The Jackbox Party Pack 4 and The Jackbox Party Pack 7 are the clear winners.
Party Pack 4 has a couple of games that are fantastic when you can comfortably dunk on the other players, or lie straight to their faces. Survive the Internet is one of the more mean-spirited games, allowing you to take quotes from your friends and add horrible context to them for laughs. Fibbage 3 is also a game all about, well, fibs, along with a mode called Fibbage About You where you can make up lies directly about the other players. (The other games, Civic Doodle and Bracketeering, are not the best of the bunch but are perfectly playable.)
Party Pack 7 is a pack full of games that provide a focused, specific experience. Talking Points is good if you know you’re playing with people who can pull off some improv for two minutes at a time — or are at least willing to give it a shot. Champ’d Up is a drawing game where players have to create champions and contenders for titles like “Champion of Getting Mad on Twitter” or “Champion of Shady Deals.” This game is a blast, but it’s a little trickier than Tee K.O., and it requires a little more patience from players. The pack also includes Quiplash 3, which is always a crowd-pleaser.The Party Packs you can safely skip
At this point, it’s not worth picking up the first two packs — developer Jackbox Games has replaced the best titles from them with sequels, and the other games simply haven’t stood the test of time. If you want to try a taste of the best games from the original two Party Packs, it’s better to just buy an individual copy of Quiplash or Drawful 2.
